She is an ethnologist. He is a photographer… They’re young and together they set off to travel the world.
America, Asia, Southern Europe: Together they share the same taste and love of discovering new things, new people. Throughout their travels, Sandrine collects ancient jewellery, noble materials, fine stones, objects of curiosity and indeed all manner of things that bring her close to the family tradition. Her father is a collector of primitive art and her mother a jewellery designer. On returning home from her
memorable journeys she can’t wait to start creating herself and of course Ouaki will be there to encourage her. First pieces, first orders. In 1986 the young couple give birth to Satellite.

Our jewels are genuine creations designed in our Parisian workshop and freed from the dictates of fashion. They are timeless, unique, just like the women who inspire them. They borrow from high fashion, the taste for valuable skills like embroidery, weaving or setting, with the same attention to detail that takes its time. They like materials: gemstones, pearls, silk, feathers and particularly exuberant daring associations. They are entirely handcrafted by skilled artisans, each piece is unique.

At the beginning there was the vision and then the hand that brings it to life ; a “pas de deux” between
the creator and the artisan, from the first sketch to the final finished piece. Each of our creations is the expression of many talents: the smelters and metal engravers, gilders, carvers and stone
polishers, embroiderers, lace makers and the enamel, etc. Meticulous gestures working as one and of which we love to celebrate the beauty of and… perpetuate the tradition. In a world where the craftsman seems to give in to the law of automation, they are a tribute not only to time but also patient, authentic and human expertise.

Semi precious stones, pearls and other precious metals… Amazonite, carnelian, fine gold : at Satellite we like materials from here and elsewhere, stones and their symbols: it may be the pleasure of the quest so dear to ethnologists and collectors which is the genesis of our story. Our creations are about mixing and rich, bold alliances. The stones rub along side seed pearls, feathers, python and silk thread braiding.
